49 steering box removal
I posted this on "Shoebox.com" as well, but am mining all the valuable resources I can. I have learned a tremendous amount since finding "Fordbarn" and "Shoebox". Here is my querry. Thanks.
I am confused on the removal and need some advise. Does the entire steering column have to come out with the steering box? If not, what is the best method. The engine is out and there is plenty of room. Thanks for any input from anyone that has been there done that. Thanks, Joe

Re: 49 steering box removal
Remove the two tin floor plates at bottom of column, remove the column support u-bolt from the dash, remove steering wheel, disconect horn wire at bottom of sterring box, disconnect pitman arm from drag link, remove two shift linkage rods from column, then remove the bolts holding the steering box to frame and lift the unit up through the interior of the car. after you get it out you can remove the column tube.
