The exhaust fittings. One end goes to the choke unit, other goes to carb base as you say. The carb base end just goes into the bottom of the air horn, so the air drawn through the heat exchange in the intake manifold to heat the choke spring is using filtered air. Hope that makes sence.
Martin.

Makes sense scooter. I wondered what that tube did. Maybe I'll come up with a way to add a small filter on the opposlte side from the choke heat tube. In the past, when I've worked on carbs. with auto chokes, I've noticed a lot of dust and dirt in the dashpot. Thanks,
Howard

Looks good Zeke. What's the engine going in? Whose headers did you use? My set up for this thread is for my '50 coupe. It doesn't appear anyone makes headers for it yet. Bought Drake lh manifold with rear exit but the outlet is only 1-3/8". I think that's too small. I'm going to send it back and get one from Pat Rooney.

Hi Zeke,
Getting off the thread but I'm also putting a 276 8ba style engine in my '37 coupe. Were you able to get the lead out pipes, mufflers and tailpipes pre-made, through Red's or (?), or did you have the pipes bent up by a shop?

On opening up the 8BA inlet for a 2G, If you centered on the 2G throttle bores and opened them up to this size clear to the bottom, On the 8BA manifold here you'd break through to air between the carb mounting pad and the top if the heated area in a few places, the rest would be paper thin.
Out of interest, the Merc carb I have here 885 from 1951 and the Rochester 2Gs I have here, have the same throttle opening size 1 7/16". This is bigger than the opening in the Merc 4 bolt intake, by aprox .100" So opening up the Merc manifold so it fits the Merc carb has got to be an improvement.
Martin.

I'd love to see this!

I have the pics now but they are too large to post, and I'm waiting for my grandson to come and help me reduce them. Getting old has it's problems.
