Easy way to pump gas out of gas tank
I got two cars that I half to pump all the gas out so I can wash out the tanks. One is the 56 Tee Bird and the other is a 63 Split Window Corvette. Here what I did I went to Tractor Supply and bought a Battery pump that takes two flash light battery. Works super in a few minutes the gas tank was dry. So if you ever have this problem that the way to go. Yesterday I ordered a heater motor for the Tee Bird and it came today. I ordered the parts from Hill's in southern Ohio

Hand pump from Harbor Freight and Jersey Cans. Hand pump needs screw clamps to stop the hoses from slipping off during pumping. Once the gas flows it keeps going w/o pumping.
Quick and easy. |

Ya gotta be old school and suck on the hose, hoping that you don't get a mouthful of gas. If you do, you've been initiated.

Re: Easy way to pump gas out of gas tank
Put your siphon hose in the tank, the other end in your gas can, put the tip of your air hose along side it with a rag stuffed around both of them for a seal and give a it a shot of air. The gas will be coming out the siphon hose so be ready.

Re: Easy way to pump gas out of gas tank
I generally remove the plug from the tank and let it drain in a large cut off plastic drum. Al

Re: Easy way to pump gas out of gas tank
ditto here - not sure why you would need to pump gasoline out. Maybe if you were scavenging for fuel? I would think that if you used the drain you would get more of the junk out of the tank than pumping... but what do I know lol I learn something new all the time on these old Fords.

Re: Easy way to pump gas out of gas tank
I filled my tank full and then drained out half the gas in a can. I was checking the accuracy of a newly installed fuel gauge...............
