My 1934 Ford PU Project.
Thought I would share my project with you. I picked up this '34 PU from my cousin in Nor-Cal in June. It's been in the family since new (purchased from local dealership). It was used mostly as a farm truck. I convinced my cousin that it was just going to rot in the barn, and he decided that I could have it. He has first right of refusal when I sell it to buy it back for what I've got into it.
Enjoy! |

Re: My 1934 Ford PU Project.
I've got quite a few more pictures posted on Shutterfly (link below). The '50 shoebox in the barn was restored by my dad about 10 years ago...same deal. My cousin bought that one back in March.
Plans are to keep it mostly as you see, but the engine is a 59A (1948), so I think I'll do some work on that since it's not original. I've also got the original '34 engine, but it's still up at the ranch. I've got new 16" wires and tires on it, and it runs and drives at this point, but still needs some work before it's really road worthy. I did get the seat re-upholstered... |

That looks like it will be a fun project. What are your plans for it? It looks pretty solid from those pictures.

Looks like a great project to me. I particularly like the additional gauge panel below the dash.
It will be considerable work but also considerable fun.

Here's the link to more pictures of the truck, other stuff he has at the ranch, etc.

It's been a fun project so far...I wish I knew what the added panel was from. I'm assuming Ford since that's all he owned, but it may not be. |

Panel is '47-8 Ford...could easily have come from same donor as the engine.

Just get it running good, with stock parts, give it a wash job and drive the wheels off. Super nice truck. Keep it that way.

Re: My 1934 Ford PU Project.
jeff,
NICE TRUCK....QUESTION....after the seat was reupholstered, can you tell me, does the front bottom of the seat stick out any beyond the seat pedestal base (ref. does the front of the seat overhang any out in front of the pedestal base). I am trying to figure this out for my '36 Ford pickup. Thank you, Bruce |

Re: My 1934 Ford PU Project.
Very nice find and it looks like it has 70,000 miles and not abused at all. Keep that '34 engine and maybe you'll want to restore it or do what ever; it is yours and ENJOY!! I restored my '34 but you do what you want!!! Good luck!!!

Yes, the bottom of the seat extends past the seat riser by about an inch. I can get a better picture and measurement tonight. You should also know that my seat base/springs were missing several springs and the frame was broken in several places. We opted to go with a foam base as a replacement. The foam base was made to approximate the spring base, but might be a bit different. |

70k might be optimistic. I haven't checked, but I don't think the ODO works, and the pedals tell a much different story...

I sure am glad you replaced that spare tire. It was lookin' a little bald.
Seriously, though, what a great project. Enjoy!

There are a couple on the Shutterfly shared page, but here's a nice one from the Nor-Cal Reliability Run day...

Re: My 1934 Ford PU Project.
Great trucks were the 32-33-34s......and they got a lot of abuse.....treat the ole girl with respect and you'll have lots of years of fun!!!
