Default Need info on Front Fender braces and changes please

Looking for a much more clear explanation when in 29 ford changed from the forged front fender brackets to the "channeled" stamped ones and then back again to forged..The JS does not make it very clear and looking for those dates or overlap dates please.

Thanks in advance

I don't think Ford ever went back to forged front fender brackets in 1929's. Ford did use some forged 30 front fender brackets, but they were made differently. The 30 forged brackets look similar to 28/early 29 brackets, but have a wider arc to fit 30 fenders. Also the large bottom hole has a thin boss compared to the thick 28/early 29 brackets. I have had 2 or 3 sets of 30 forged brackets as well as many 28/early 29 brackets (maybe 5 sets) and they are definitely different. I suspect Ford used the forged fender brackets, both front and rear until each plant ran out of them and started using the stamped brackets. My educated guess is Ford started using stamped front fender brackets in the first quarter of 29 and probably most plants where using stamped front brackets by mid 29. My Jan 29 phaeton has forged front brackets and stamped rear brackets. I have heard of several cars, including another late Jan 29 phaeton, with mixed front and rear brackets. Usually if the brackets were mixed, the car had forged front brackets and stamped rear brackets.
