Axle questions.
I have five questions about the axle I am rebuilding.
1) Are the thrust washers pictured, originally bronze? I thought they were babbit material. 2) How do I get the sleeve off the end of the shaft? It's on there pretty good. 3) Each axle shaft has a large spring on it, presumably to keep the gear lube from creeping out to the ends. Is this aftermarket? 4) Is the pictured bearing housing correct for a '21? 5) I removed the pin and u-joint from the end of the torque tube. On my Model A's, I put an old socket on the end of a drive shaft and pound out the bushing. This bushing is not moving. If I am trying to accomplish this correctly, then what size socket, because too big gets wedged in the tube taper, and too small goes through the bushing. Thanks experts.
