Default Vacuum Wiper Performance

Group,

Had the Model A out in a rain today. As such, I used the vacuum wiper on the 1931 Tudor.

Now, I know that the speed of the wiper slows down when you put your foot down hard....but...this wiper was slow most all times.

Question, should the wiper be fairly "snappy" over most conditions or should the wiper just work well when idling ?

The wiper motor is on the outside of the windshield. Is it easy to remove/service ?

Runs on vacuum, climbing hill or putting foot down hard decreases amount of vacuum= slow down of wiper. .From the inside of car look to right and left of on/off knob, two screws, remove screws, motor comes off. Problem could be hardened grease in the wiper itself, wrong grease, worn paddle, loss of vacuum from manifold to wiper motor itself. Let us know if you find something

I had the same problem. The rebuild kit is only a few bucks, and with some lintless rags for cleaning and a thin scrim of Vaseline for lubrication of the "paddle" you will be amazed at the improvement. It is an ingenious system of chambers and ducts.

Try this before you take it apart.

I work in some ATF from time to time to keep every thing working well.
