Anyone ever seen these cowl vents before?
Take a look at these vents on the side of a '31 Model A. Weird!

Re: Anyone ever seen these cowl vents before?
Looks like some sort of horn projectors “engineered” to fit

Aside from looks this isn't a bad idea. Maybe a vent door would work. |

Re: Anyone ever seen these cowl vents before?
Mr Ford had “crotch coolers” on his ‘29 coupe. The door type cowl vents..

Interesting... These are fitted to both cowl panels on a cabriolet... not the sort of body where you'd expect to need additional ventilation! The firewall has a hole for a Southwind heater - maybe just too hot??

Re: Anyone ever seen these cowl vents before?
Some early-28 Fordors had a door-style vent in that location - think it was driver side only.
Whole lot easier just to open the windshield - dash is formed to direct air down toward feet. |

Re: Anyone ever seen these cowl vents before?
It seems like it would just suck in the hot air (and fumes) coming out of the side, hood louvers......to keep the inside of the car toasty warm. So maybe they were an attempt at heating the driver compartment.

Re: Anyone ever seen these cowl vents before?
My '28 roadster came to me with cowl vents. They appear to be a reproduction of the ones in the attached advertisement from the March '31 Ford Dealer News. Same vents can be found in the Wonderful Unauthorized Accessories for Model A Ford book.
