1940 ford trans. swap
want to use a 70's chev pickup 3 speed manual trans. with a 327 in my 40 ford. Will wishbones need to be split and what to use for trans. mount. Any help appreciated.

I would get a chassis engineering trans kit with split wishbone kit. Then remove the center section of frame and mount trans to that, with push hydraulic slave cylinder for clutch linkage.

To fit the 3 speed you will need to nibble the upper part of the center member. Fashion a plate to move the trans mount rearward a couple of inches. This is required because the trans mount falls over the wishbone location. The bottom portion of the center cross member with the wishbone mount stays in place. |
