Greasing water pump
I have been working on a 30 coupe for several years, finally finished it and it is just what I wanted. Kewanne green and elk point. My question is, I have a leakless water pump, I am sure of, but I am not sure about greasing it. It was purchased from Snyders , I think, but I know it was a reputable vendor. The pump has modern zerk fittings and looks greaseable. I know you do not want to put to much grease in, but I need some advice about lubing. I also have a new radiator and do not want to stop it up. When I pull out the fittings there is grease on them.

Re: Greasing water pump
For me, once the pump is assembled I never add grease to the rear bearing. I do grease the fan bearing at least 1 x per season.

Re: Greasing water pump
A proper waterpump grease is one with a low enough melt point that it won't clog the tubes. The rear bushing will need grease now and then. The front bearing may or may not be a sealed bearing. Sealed ones can get by for a number of years without service. The old roller type will need service now and then.

Re: Greasing water pump
I have an old grease cup on my rear bearing that I pack with K-Y jelly, I'll give it a 1/2 turn every now and then, the front bearing I grease as normal.
