Re: Front axle king pin holes
I see, keep us posted how it works. I met a guy once at an antique engine fair who used JB Weld for a main bearing in a hit and miss engine and said it was doing fine.

Re: Front axle king pin holes
The forces involved in that king pin wanting to rotate around the wedge pin are very large. It will pound out anything soft in there.

Re: Front axle king pin holes
JB Weld will not make it worse.
Even if it fails, you will be no worse off than you are now. I absolutely do not recommend using J B Weld but in this case, it may buy you a little time until you can take everything apart and fix it properly. Installing a sleeve is the way I would go. My opinion, Chris W. |

Re: Front axle king pin holes
Here’s what I did. I put JB weld in the axle hole at both ends. I then wrapped the king pin with one layer of wax paper and inserted it into the axle. I put in the locking pin and tightened it. The next day I slid the king pin out and peeled away the wax paper and checked the fit. It was tight. Took it for a road run and seems fine so far. We’ll see how long it lasts. Thanks for all the help.
