I just finished this 1940 standard and or pickup instrument cluster and ready to take to the James Dean show in Fairmount Indiana next weekend (Sept. 28-29-30). This has a N.O.S speedometer, all N.O.S gauges, original S.S bezel, all new Drake faces and ready to use.

What's this about the Drake faces? If the "Gauges" are really NOS, why do they need new faces? Was the "original bezel" really stainless? Interrogative: Fred A

Fred, The reason why the N.O.S gauges have new drake faces is because not all the N.O.S gauge faces were the same color, different suppliers to ford had a little difference in their paint and even the N.O.S ones in boxes over the years tend to fade to different shades so I think by using the Drake faces it looks better since they are all the same color. The original bezels were steel but were called rust less steel and the new bezels are slightly different.

Multiple boxes of NOS parts came with my V8 (std) coupe and the painted faces are nowhere near that yellow. Maybe it is just the photographic representation we see here. I doubt that what I have faded in their boxes.

Charlie??? We know you are allowed to do a bit of business, perhaps by recommendations, but Bill with his bumps seems to be pushing the limits. I may be misled if the novelty shop is part of some kind of joke. Just that he doesn't list a price doesn't mean that it would be better to advertise in the parts for sale and bump away. "thanks for sharing." may not be an honest characterization. Why bark about the rules then judge by the personality? WTF: Fred A
