Default Front Engine Seal Leak

Just finished installing new rope seals in the engine. The front seal has a very small leak that when the oil is hot slings around the cross member and the hood. I cannot pull the covers and fix it now. This is the first time I have ever had a rope not hold tight. The pulley shaft was not in the best shape but I decided to go with it. I was wondering if there was something I could put in the engine oil to help seal it up or is there something I can use externally around the shaft to keep the oil from spitting around for a few hundred miles or so. All comments appreciated.

I would change the pulley so the seal will work. Sounds like you should have before the seals were installed.

Nothing will work if the pulley shaft is bad.

It may get better, as the rope seal soaks with oil & "may" cause it to expand some??

you have 2 choices, pull the covers and fix the problem, or just keeping oil in it, nothing in a can will fix an oil leak as you describe, you can fix it over nite
