can anyone tell me how many seals are in the steering gear box and do you have to absolutely remove it to replace them?

I have the shop manual at home, I'll take a look later tonight and let you know. C & G Ford Parts should have everything that you'll need. I may have to go through mine as well while the car is apart.

Even worse... the whole steering column has to come out to remove the steering box.
