I always keep my cars the same voltage and grounding the factory gave them.
Nothing wrong with 6 volt positive ground, even in my modern 1950 Studebaker.

[QUOTE=GrandpasA;929234]Thank you all for the info..

As far as wiring problems, horn doesn't work, one head light works but they both come on and go out sometimes, so no night driving at the moment..

I would love to replace the entire harness cuz the one in there looks original..

The first thing I would look at for the wiring issues, Is the wiring cap at the base of the steering column. Quite often the steering column will leak and oil gets on the electric contacts. Pop the bail off, clean the contacts and put it back on. Worked for me a couple of times. This will affect lights and horn.

If I left it 6 volts I would leave it positive ground. There is no advantage to change it. If I changed it to 12 volts I would go negative ground so I could run modern electronics.

now as far as the body goes im guessing its a briggs cuz of the flat tops on the doors and larger rear side windows?
and yes it does have two piece running boards..

Love your car. I have one that looks like Grandpa's, now yours. Thank you for making your A "right".

I grew up with positive ground on early British cars. There is no reason to change unless you want to upgrade to modern electronic add-ons. There is one reason to stay with positive ground which is seldom mentioned - there is less corrosion on battery terminals and ground connections as there are less negative (pun intended) electrolysis effects.

That makes complete sense about the ground corrosion...

Skibb, I love your ride as well, what color is that green, I really like it.. One day I will tear apart this A to paint it the correct color, and that's the color I want it to be..

Yes, most of us still use it. Actually, the mod.T had a - ground I believe. Many cars had + grd up until the 1950s. Ford used it until 1955, 56 was the changeover year when they went to 12V -grd. Old Mopars were also 6V + grd.

I use positive ground on mine, even the one with 12 volt and original generator. If changed to 12 volt with an alternator it is usually necessary to change to negative ground.

Even Studebaker (the best) used + ground into the 50's.

The picture in post number 2, if this your car, shows arched upper door window reveals and the small quarter window. The car pictured in post number 2 is a Murray body without a doubt.

Keep it as the pos. ground as original otherwise you will have to do some wiring changes and repolarizing the generator. Nice Murray town sedan, I had one like it, mine was an early 31 straight windshield also.
