Default Coil wire Question

I'm finishing up my 12 conversion, I notice that the wire from coil to Dist is very long with metal jacket. Why long & metal jacket ? Also if I'm putting in a balast resistor where dose it go ? do I split the coil wire & put it in ?? Thanks

If you are asking about the primary wire it should go from the distributor
to the ignition switch.

I've never seen nor heard of anyone putting a metal wrap around an ignition coil wire, but it was probably done to reduce ignition noise in a radio. I'd go with an original plain solid copper wire which the Model A parts houses sell.

That's the points wire and an easy to connect aftermarket one. It connects to one side of the switch.

If that wire is attached to your coil, the car is not wired the way the factory wired it, which is a wire from the terminal box terminal to the minus side of the coil, and a wire from the plus side of the coil to the ignition switch, and then the cable from the ignition switch to the distributor.
