Re: bent front axel
Find a truck repair facility. They have the tools and talent to get it done correctly.
Here is a good thread; https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152031 (The links to Kevin's articles no longer work)

Re: bent front axel
Go to an old fashioned tire and alignment shop that works on trucks. They may have the equipment.

Re: bent front axel
No heat is needed. When I was at Ken's shop a few years ago we straightened a front axle on his press, and it bent easier than I'd have thought.

Re: bent front axel
That's what happens when the brakes aren't correctly adjusted and one front wheel locks up while the other spins free.

Re: bent front axel
I remember going with my father and his friend to retrieve a 32 ford from a pasture. The friend attached a chain to the middle of the axel, and told my father to drive the truck ahead. The wheels of the 32 had sank into the dirt, and instead of moving, the axel bent. This was in the early 60's. I dont remember what happen to the 32.

Re: bent front axel
Follow the link at the bottom.
Comcast shut down their websites. I have been moving everything over to Google sites. I have figured out how to do it painlessly. So save the link. I have put in the original axle help page. Just remember, NEVER heat an axle beyond a few hundred degrees. Last edited by Kevin in NJ; 11-21-2015 at 10:29 AM. |

Re: bent front axel
Thanks for the informative photo in reply No. 6.
I always wondered what it meant to be: "Wrapped Around the Axle." After he hit him, it must have been mind boggling to get him "Unwrapped". |
