Default 33 Diff

Im just trying to work out what parts Im missing from my car when its literally 1/2 a world away.

With the drive shaft removed what should I see in the diff where it unbolted?

Thanks. And if anyone has a V8 driveshaft and torque tube that would be VERY handy.

Thanks.

I have a complete 33 V8 rear end I'd love to sell but China is a little to far.

Should see the pinion shaft sticking out towards you, 10-spline if it is original 33-34, and also should see the two large nuts that hold & adjust pinion bearing. Would also likely see the edge of pinion bearing. Not sure of your question ??

WI Wisconsin Dells area. The shipping cost would be excessive.

The assembled pinion shaft presses into the banjo housing through the big hole in the front, it is then secured in place by the torque tube flange, the big double nuts and locking washer are to set drag on the pinion bearings. There is one rear pinion support bearing and the main pinion bearing is actually two tapered bearings pressed onto the pinion shaft facing one another that share a common double tapered race, this race is what presses into the housing and holds everything together. I am unsure if the pinion assembly can be removed without first removing the ring gear?

33/34 is a slightly diffrent banjo housing than 35/48 and they do not interchange. Hotrodworks.com is a VERY good resource for banjo id. and information.

You can see the two smooth surfaces in front of the pinion gear that are seperated by a wide groove, this is where the bearings press onto the shaft facing each other. Banjo internals are really quite simple but I still had a pro assemble mine.

This was the rear end that was under my 34 5W a few years ago. Rear end was toast, diff was filled with dirt & water. I have since scored another one. These pic's are not great but will show the general configuartion.
