31 Sport Coupe Body Weight
I have a 1931 Sport Coupe that I have waiting in the wings for a full restoration when I have completed my 1930 Tudor this year. I want to build a body rotisserie to work on the body and painting. What would the bare body weight be, without top, seats, floor boards, and interior finishes, I have a preliminary design in mind but would appreciate comments and or designs. Thanks in advance . Re: 31 Sport Coupe Body Weight
I have a 30' Sport Coupe sitting on a dolly I made that rolls around the shop. Two of us can easily lift the body off, so I would estimate no more than 100 to 120 lbs. That is everything removed, nothing but the body

Re: 31 Sport Coupe Body Weight
Lifting can be deceiving. I rigged up a harness to go over my shoulders and grab onto an Austin Healy 300 Engine, tranny and OD. (I was younger) Got in position with the intent of picking it off the floor and use my foot to slide a piano dolly under it. Got it off the ground by just standing up but couldn't get either foot off the ground no matter how hard I tried. I later looked up the combined weight, 625 pounds. No wonder my feet were glued to the floor. I had to settle for one end at a time and have my bride move the dolly into position.

Re: 31 Sport Coupe Body Weight
Thanks Benson: that just the right info that I needed to size the casters so I can keep the rotisserie mobile. I have no upholstery or floor boards and will remove the doors and deck lid. Thanks again. Grant

Re: 31 Sport Coupe Body Weight
8 inch casters is what I used for a homemade body dolly, with my tudor body bolted down to it I could push it up ramps into my truck bed.
