Default Divco

I have always wondered if DIVCO could fit here, as it was powered by Ford during it's last years. It was a sad case when such an iconic delivery van disappeared from the world in the eighties. during it's years it used several power plants, but the better power plant used I believe was the Ford 300, as it was one of the more reliable engines made that was sold to companies outside of the Ford brand. Even today, my father Jeff, who worked for DIVCO in the late 70's as a body man, remembers the Ford engines being delivered via train, and seeing them be installed in the Delaware, Ohio factory (the last factory where DIVCO's were manufactured). Even today, these trucks hold a special place in my heart, not just because my father worked there, but because when he finds one and brings it back to life, it brings the past back to life. I hope this post does not get deleted, but if it does, I can at least say that during it's history, Ford has manufactured trucks and delivered parts to companies it competed with, as if Ford played a part in the success and demise of many companies.

The same 300 six went in the custom built UPS trucks at one time too.

We had Mercury tow tractors at GM when I worked there and they had Ford 300 cu. in. 6cyl. engines with C4 transmissions. The engines were bullit proof.

You might get more reading and post from other FORD inline six enthusiasts if you look at fordsix.com

Check out this Divco spotted at a Car Show in Queensland last year. Not exactly stock?
