Still trying to get my body problems corrected, pics or info on rear rumble area
Trying to get the rear area of my 28 roadster back to some sort of normal after no telling how many years of being jack legged.
I'll post some pics. I've already disassembled the rear lower panel area so I'll try to recreate how it was installed. I just need to know how it's actually supposed to be. It appears that the lower portion of the gutters have been messed up and I believe there is an extra brace that was just screwed on top of a reproduction rear lower panel. I'd at least like to see a picture of what the lower ends of the gutter are supposed to look like so I can correct that. And any pictures or info about the assembly of the curved inner panel and associated parts go together. This was all stuck together with sheet metal screws and bolts as the rear subframe was bent and nothing fit it correctly. |

Here is an original cross brace on a repro panel: My 29 roadster came with a 30 panel under the rumble. I took the original cross brace and put it on a repro 29 panel. I painted the car and tried to fit the rumble lid, no luck. Then I found an original panel and replaced the one I had. The repro cross brace is much shallower. I have looked at many other 29 rumble lid fits. Many are awful. Last edited by mrtexas; 10-19-2015 at 06:36 AM. |

your gutters look to be all there. that how they are. your lower panel is a reproduction and they come with the inner brace already in them. also like Mrtexas said the reproduction rear lower panels are straight a crossed the top. the original panel are 1/4" taller in the middle. I have NOT been able to find anyone that makes a lower panel that is correct.

Re: Still trying to get my body problems corrected, pics or info on rear rumble area
ok looking at the second picture i posted can someone confirm that what i have is two horizontal braces that were sandwiched together and can get rid of one of them? The T shaped assembly was on top of the horizontal brace that is built in to the back of the panel. Maybe either remove the brace from the repro panel and replace with the t shaped assembly or remove the vertical brace from the assembly and attach to the repro panel? Buying a whole bunch of replacement panels isnt really an option for me right now so i will have to try and repair what i have.

And one other thing... Are there any dimensions available for the outward radius of the rear subframe crossmember? Its not dead straight is it?

I wish Vermin had a trunk like Minerva had, BUT, would I change it??? NO, NO, NO, as it is a perfect factory installed set up, with new platforms, springs, & BEAUTIFUL upholstery, side panels & forward panel, that looks like it was installed YESTERDAY!
