IMHO the most beautiful car ever made of any brand is the '49 Merc. coupe

Re: Most Beautiful Flathead Ford Poll
Opinions are like belly buttons. And like my navel, mine's a little different.
My favorite all-time, float my boat, give my heart the flitters Ford is, of all things, a late 38 Standard Sedan Delivery. 38's are rare for two reasons; one was the second-dip-of-the-depression economy and the other was the styling. I'm a big fan of the Art Deco period of design and 38 was Ford's zenith. Look across their product line. Compare a 38 Lincoln to a stodgy Cadillac or Chrysler; a 38 Standard to a 38 Chevy with it's headlites still stuck on pods. The early 38's with little chrome were too stark and the public wasn't ready for their minimalism. The chrome accents at mid-year really picked up the design lines and the front of the car then visibly FLOWED!! The only problem was after the flowing grill and hood was a rather pudgy short little car. The front end belonged on a car with a longer wheelbase and lowering would have helped immensely. The sedan delivery body extends the lines, tricking the eye into thinking the car is longer. Rarely seen, I've only discovered less than a handful, whenever I spy one I can't help but imagining it lowered about 4 inches, a deco period advertising icon in the panel, and a pair of rear bubble skirts with lines to match the profile of the fender. In my mind, no Ridler-award building, million dollar California customizer could match it. It has a design that rivals the Delages and Saoutchik level European coach builders of that era. Due to it's rarity and price I doubt I'll ever own one. I'll be content with my 39 Tudor, something I can afford to build and drive. But I can still have both beautiful cars and women in my dreams. |

Re: Most Beautiful Flathead Ford Poll
That '34 roadster is drop-dead gorgeous, but I wouldn't kick any of the cars listed here out of my garage for leaking a little oil!

Well I gotta admit I'm biased toward the shoeboxes. My favorite is of course mine. "49 Vert, slightly modified, flathead V-8...slim

Re: Most Beautiful Flathead Ford Poll
To me, the most perfectly proportioned and beautiful is the 32 3window coupe.

Re: Most Beautiful Flathead Ford Poll
I guess I'll have to chime in again with another choice, Ford's big sister, the '39 Lincoln Zephyr Convertible Club Coupe. Here's a photo of ours, next to our '39 CS.

Re: Most Beautiful Flathead Ford Poll
I think the conclusion that we may be coming to here by our collective responses is that Ford designed and built an incredibly wide range of truly beautiful production vehicles over a wide span of time - a remarkable achievement that very few other marques achieved at that time or since! We are all very lucky to be involved in the perpetuation of the life of these wonderful automobiles!

Re: Most Beautiful Flathead Ford Poll
Well said, Peter; I would be hard-pressed to pick an all-time favorite from at least six different models that have always caught my eye....(even though I may be biased toward the '36 coupes and open cars).

I have been waiting until they quit responding to get a tally. But I would guess the `33 and `34 are the favorites and I can't argue with that, I like them too. But to each his own, that is what makes this hobby so darn interesting.... Shadetree

Re: Most Beautiful Flathead Ford Poll
Some might not think this coupe is beautiful, but this look is the reason I went over to 32's years ago. This is my 3-window yesterday. I cant get enough of its beauty
