A friend of mine had a Grand Banks trawler from the '50's. It was equipped with two Lehman diesels of about 100 hp each. They were good powerplants.

I restored with help from my MARC region, the marine engine in the MAFFI museum at Hickory Corners, MI. At that time Randy S., a director, did research on the subject but couldn't find much.

That engine was available as a complete engine and gearbox (three variations) or as a kit (four variations). Lehman Marine also offered a similar complete marine engine or a kit, for the Ford Model B engines and the Ford V8 engines, with various add ons, modifications and accessories available for each.

Many years ago I used to take my sailboat up into the Sacramento Delta. I met a guy who was running his speedboat around. It had a huge V8 inboard engine. I asked him how fast it would go. His answer was 100 mph, but at that speed the fuel consumption was 100 gallons per hour.
