One source I saw stated they started at $510. Would assume that is car prices.

That would be my guess, in the $500.00 range.
A hard to come by $500.00 |

Re: Original Price when new
I found this, listing the original price of the Model 50 at $480.
https://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/1935...-Pickup/Values. I do inflation by the gold standard. Gold in '35 was $20 per oz, it's now (as of today) $1510. 480 / 20 = 24 oz. 24 oz X 1510 = $36,240 The current MSRP for a 2019, F150 is $32,800 https://www.car-buying-strategies.co...50-prices.html But you get a lot more in 2019 for your $ but, 24 oz of gold in 1935, was still a lot of money. My dad bought a new '39 Ford Deluxe, tudor for $680, as I remember. Frank PS I used the wrong year but, the price didn't change from 35 to 36: https://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/1936...-Pickup/Values Last edited by frnkeore; 10-04-2019 at 12:55 PM. |

Re: Original Price when new
You are not going to buy anything in gold. Today's price for $480 is about $9,000.

Re: Original Price when new
That may be but, it doesn't change the fact, that it took 24 oz of gold, to buy a new Ford PU, in 1936.

Re: Original Price when new
I must correct myself! The price of gold was $35 per oz, in 1936.
That makes $480 worth 13.71 oz of gold and $20,700 at today's gold price. |

Re: Original Price when new
That's a great find, Norm!
I would love to see a few more pages I believe the first column is FOB price and assume the second column is delivered but, I can't make out what the word is at the top of the column.
