HELP identify bumper
Bought a pair of bumpers for supposedly a 55 Ford on e pay several months ago and when i went to install the rear bolt holes will not match up..Front is perfect ..My original bumper bolt holes from centre of bumper are 6 1/2to first bolt 20 in to horn 27 1/2 to no 3 and 36 1/2 to last bolt...Bumper i bought is 5 1/2 to first 19 1/4 to horn23 3/4to no 3 35 1/4 to last..Now i am sure the bumper on my 55 is right as i checked with a freind and his measurements are the same..Hope someone can identify Thanks in advance

Sorry can not send pics..Everything about the bumper is 55 except the bolt hole spacings..Bumper horns fit perfect,holes are up 3in from bottom..Thought someone on here would know??

1956 had two different bumpers. one for the fairlanes with the exhaust ports and one for the customlines and mainlines without the exhaust ports. The bolt holes are the same on both styles. On 55's the bolt holes would be where the exhaust ports are on a 56. Other than the two holes not lining up they are the same.

My bumper is from a crown vic..The bought bumper?? There probably is no difference between a car and sedan delivery..

Did you go back to the seller and ask to confirm the fitment/application? Perhaps they can give some additional details on it.
52-54 takes same rear bumper (BA-17906-A), '55 is B5A-17906-A and '56 is B6A-17906-A (std) or -B (with exhaust holes). No other differentiation is listed in my parts book for these years. On my '56, the 2 inner-most mounting holes are approximately 6 1/2" from center. Last edited by raceron1120; 05-29-2013 at 02:30 AM. |
