I sure wish I could go! Unfortunately (fortunately) I will be busy studying that week and wrapping things up at home since I'll be starting a new job with SkyWest Airlines on the 29th. The systems in my new ride are going to be a little more complicated to memorize and operate than a Model A.

I'm finally ditching my 40 year old freight airplanes and my midnight schedule for the shiny floozy shown above. I had a blast at my current, soon to be former company but the show (my career) must go on. I'm sure I'll really be looking forward to when training is over, and I eventually have enough seniority to spend some time at home and get going on the Model A again. The simplicity of the Model A is a great way for a pilot to unwind in my humble opinion! A lot cheaper than an airplane too, and less like actual work! (what I do for a living anyway).

Will be leaving on the 23rd as a "trailer queen" option. That is I "hope" we will if I can ever get this huckster to run! Still having electrical problems.

Haha, true! Although my airplane for the last seven years was a piston twin and has a max takeoff weight of 7,000lbs. Just a LITTLE bit smaller... . The CRJ 900 has a max takeoff weight of 84,500lbs, so it's a step in the right direction.

Actually saw "The" AN-225 land at CLE... making a delivery to NASA GRC a while back when I worked there... The photo does not give the true scale of the beast..

I've seen it here in Anchorage (on the tarmac) several times. That set of 16 landing gear wheels is something else. That sucker is HUGE!

I read somewhere that they have a couple more partially finished, but can't come up with the funds to complete them.

When I tried to take it to coffee this A.M., I started it, within a second or two it quit. No amp meter activity. Tried to start it-would not start. I moved the spark lever down, the amp meter started to show the way it should. Moved the spark lever up, amp meter still OK. Started it again, ran for about a second or two and same thing. Left it set-had to get to coffee.

Went to the shop to work on it after coffee today. It acted as if nothing was wrong with it! Moved the spark lever all over the place-no problem-ran like it should. The interesting thing is that I had the same problem with another distributor I had in it which I replace with current distributor. I put a screw driver under distributor to pry it up a bit-no problem. Tried to see if the distributor would turn in the head-no problem. Moved the wire from the coil around-no problem. Moved the wire going into the distributor-no problem. Moved other wires around in the engine compartment-no problem. Just do not know what problem I have!!!

So Gary, it may make it on the trailer so I can haul it to the meet and if it still has problems, you all may have a chance to fix it! Thanks for the offer.

Fred, have you tried a clip lead between the distributor and a good ground, just in case the hole in the head might not be giving it a good ground?

An original popout cable also offers two more grounding points, the cable head nut mount, and the instrument panel mount.

Pluck, hope I can a least get it on and off the trailer and to the repair tent. But in the next week or so, I will keep working on it and see if I can find something.

Thanks Tom. I will give that a try. But like I mentioned, I want down after coffee today and everything worked the way it should. But I will mess with it some more and see if something turns up (on or off).

I have an aftermarket cable that looks like it may be made out of plastic. I took the cable head nut mount off so I could get the distributor out. Maybe I need to hook it up again.

Tom, another question about this situation. Could a coil act up like this in the early morning? Maybe caused by the cooler weather or something? Just another thought.

BTW sorry about the hijack of this thread.

coil is usually when hot.You say you move the spark lever, sounds like a short in the distributor wire. Check that over real good.

I agree with Gary.
I'd look for the lower plate wire grounding out, or maybe it's broken.

This sounds right, but its remarkable that its the same problem with two different distributors. Still possible though.
Take a real good look at the switch.
Good Luck. I've always admired the pics of your Huckster, hope you get it fixed, fast!
