dirty leg
I've been reading the thread about modern gas filters and I seen dirty leg mentioned a few times. I know I'll probably hear comments about asking a dumb question but what is a dirty leg. A type of filter? I've been on the A site for 3 years and the early V8 for five and never heard that term.

Re: dirty leg
think of a dirt trap for natural gas at an appliance like a hot water heater
It is a Tee, with a valve at the bottom of the Tee to drain sediment here and there, while the gasoline goes straight thru, allowing the dirt particles to fall into the 'leg' (branch of the Tee)

Re: dirty leg
It's T connection that drops off the tank valve, so the junk falls straight down to the cap on the end of the down pipe, and the clean gas flows out the side pipe a couple inches higher than the cap.

Re: dirty leg
It's best to try and take care of the debris by flushing the tank out and or doing an evaporust treatment before installing the LEG....

Re: dirty leg
That’s exactly what the glass sediment bowl does with advantage you can see the trash in it.

Re: dirty leg
I've always known these as "P-traps" (P for particle). I'm not a big fan of these (in a model A) for a few reasons, including concern about flailing feet.
