door glass height/fit to top frame

i have an early 29 cabriolet with the aluminum top frame and no bead over the qtrs and looking for info as to how close should the door glass should be to the aluminum top frame. i have the original wood strips that attach to the top frame that the glass seals against. also purchased the new 29/30 top wood kit but the center bow appears to be too short causing the aluminum top frame to slope down in the rear. i'm thinking the center bows were different on the early 29 as compared to the late 29 and 30? any help would be greatly appreciated.
