Default 94's, 97's, 81's or...

Have a 53 f100 w 53 merc flathead. Not sure what to do for carbs. Just gonna build a ratty cruiser. Like what's reliable but like cool factor too. Almquist intake topper? w 2x2? I know rats are more for hamb but I grown to like the vibe put out by the barn. Thank you

b,
97's are sort of bullet proof in my opinion. I do think the 94 is a technically
better carb but can have issues revolving around the vacuum circuit. OMHO .

Rats have no place on HAMB OR FORD BARN. Just saying.

True. Use the term on the Hamb and they'll shoot ya down in flames. Our definition of a rat is a rusty piece of mismatched crap held together loosely by unsafe engineering. I realise some people have a different definition.... I quite often get mine called a rat just because it's running a flathead, usually by rodders running boring old 350/350/9 combos in their plastic 32s...

Oh...by rat I mean not a show car. Not worried about imperfections. Etc. Flat black mex blanket on bench. Def sound and safe! My kids will ride in it.actually want per steering and brakes. Rod would have been a better choice. Learning as I go here. A wise man once told me if you pay attention you can learn something everyday. Thanks guys.

I have a pair of 94s on one car and 97s on the other.
I'm looking for another pair of 97s right now.

Thank you for noting that. My 27 roadster is often called a RAT because it is in the building stage. Back in the 70s I took offense when my HOT ROD was called a STREET ROD. Just the opinion of a old guy. Yes the 97s are the best choice if you want to spend the $$$$$$.

Auto and air is out. Per steering and brakes allow me to safely allow my young children to ride around in it. If it was just for me I wouldn't care. I'm a father of five who has a little more to consider. To those who have helped teach me and give their educated opinion on my posts...thank you so much. I wonder if everyone would be so opinionated if we were hanging in neighbors garage or face to face. I'm just trying to learn.
PS. I will build my car anyway you like. Please send cash and your time.
Respectfully,
BWood
