Default Flywheel housing

Can a flywheel housing be machined true again? I have one that is out quite a bit and shimming doesn't seem to help much. Thanks

I have machined them but it is a job.

Good used ones are starting to be hard to find. Snyder's has a reproduction and sometimes it is best to buy a new one even though they are a bit costly.

My experience,

Yes, we do it however I had to modify my grinder to be able to do it. Here is a small video giving a brief overview.
