Original distributor body and cap
How can I tell the difference between an original distributor body and cap to a reproduction? We're the originals a redish color?

Re: Original distributor body and cap
Originals have only one notch, while post Model A production has two notches so they will also fit the Model B. However in recent years I know at least Bratton's has offered a quality repro single notch body.

Re: Original distributor body and cap
Originals were made of a 'BakeLite' material (usually a dullish balck), whereas reproductions are made of a black plastic material (usually of a more shiny black). I have not seen the excellent reproductions from Bratton's, so I do not know if it is of a 'BakeLite' material.

Re: Original distributor body and cap

Re: Original distributor body and cap
I once read a sign at a coffee shop reading: we serve French Toast anytime. So I ordered mine during the French Revolution!
On the same token, I order replacements for my Bakelite items such as distributor caps, switches, shift knobs, and the kind from various suppliers in the 1950s. :-) Merry X-Mas! |
