Oh, ok. Yes I was aware all those issues. I thought there was something specific about it that would blow up the A engine lol. Thank you.

Vapor lock on days over 80* and very short shelf life have been major problems.

Now that I have my radiator cleaned out maybe I'll try some crap gas next summer to see if I still have vapor lock on warmer days.

The disadvantages of Ethanol fuel.

1. highly government subsidies for producers

2. highly subsides for growers

3. raises the cost of propane for home heating

4. consumes more energy to make than it produces

5. less miles per gallon than regular gasoline

6. supply is weather dependent

7. raises the cost of food supply for people

8. raises the cost to feed livestock

9. short shelf life

I am sure that I am missing some points. The actual cost of ethanol @ 10% is about $9.26 a gallon. We are now importing corn to make ethanol gasoline instead of oil because of the poor corn crop this year.

matt92vr4;
Well, do you let your race cars sit for a week, a month, or longer with methanol left in the tank and fuel lines? Or do you flush the lines with gasoline after every race? Why don't you leave methanol/ethanol in the fuel tank? What will happen to the Model A that sits with ethanol in it's tank?
You say ethqnol/methanol "burns cooler". If that is so, how can you be making more power? More power comes from higher cylinder pressure. It takes more heat, not less, to raise cylinder pressure. What you're seeing is methanol's higher latent heat of vaporization; that is, as methanol changes from a liquid to a vapor in the intake tract and cylinder, it absorbs a lot of heat from the engine. But you still need a "bigger bang", resulting in more heat, to make more power.
In addition, while ethanol/methanol has significantly higher octane, it also has significantly less energy (Btu's) per gallon. This is why fuel mileage goes down when forced to use ethanol. The higher the percentage of ethanol, the worse the fuel mileage. E85 (85% ethanol) whacks fuel economy by a good 30% or more.

1. Alcohol attracts water--increased corrosion
2. Alcohol is heavier than gasoline. It seperates and alcohol sinks to the bottom. Car won't start.
3. Poorer fuel milage.
4. Price of corn goes up. Mexicans starve.
5. The whole program causes an increase of fuel burning. Bad for the environment.
