8BA Flathead crankcase breather tube
Anyone out there have a 8BA Flathead internal crankcase breather tube. The one that is inside the block on 1949-51 Flathead that feeds to the road draft tube chamber on intake manifold. Ford part #8BA-6759 I believe. Searching rendered no results…

I have one in a cracked block you can have. No rust just greasy. I've never tried pulling one any tricks or advice would be appreciated. Tim

Re: 8BA Flathead crankcase breather tube
That would be amazing! I’m not sure if it’s difficult to remove the tube or not as I never had one. I’m sure someone will chime in who has pulled one before? Have a 50 Shoebox with triple carb intake that I noticed had the road breather tube but the breather oil fill hole plugged as well as the mechanical fuel pump flange capped/ blocked with a plate. Assume the motor is not breathing then?! So I am trying to make it right. Going to mechanical pump, breather oil fill and road draft tube. Not sure why some one blocked everything of and only had road draft tube. Isn’t this bad?!

100% it’s an electric fuel pump, but that does not eliminate the problem of incorrect breathing.

pump /breather stand should have been used. This has the breather/oil fill. This mod is done usually when an early manifold is used on a late block. The top end of the tube inside the valley chamber should be cut off so it is about a half inch below the manifold deck surface also. |

So I am putting the mechanical pump on at rear, oil fill breather at front stock location, and have road draft tube in stock location. all is well yes? just need the missing internal tube. If I find a stock internal tube should it not be correct length? confused by the cut off half inch below manifold deck comment. This would not complete the path to the road tube then??? |

Re: 8BA Flathead crankcase breather tube
You only need to shorten the valley tube if you run an early manifold or block both the front holes in a late manifold and run the rear early breather/filler.

Late intake being used 1950 ford flat head with 49-51 Offenhauser intake. If you block both holes at front as you said you don't have "in and out" only in at rear breather no??? |
