Installing flashers help required

Hi guys. I have this old generic flasher switch. It’s a7 wire unit. I’ve installed 4 individual flashers on the front and rear of my 35 roadster. I can’t find a wiring diagram that doesn’t use the brake switch. Anyone got a generic wiring diagram, and what flasher relay do I need, a 2 or 3 pin unit( needs to handle led bulbs in each corner so I’ll need a new electronic style unit).

A 7 wire signal switch has the brake lights wired thru it.

Since you are using separate lights for the signals; just wire it like a normal 7 wire switch; but cap the brake light wire instead of connecting to the brake light switch.

With the LED lights you will probably need an electronic flasher. Pretty sure you will only find 2 prong flashers; in which case you will need to wire the pilot in the switch body thru a pair of diodes to the left and right front lights.

That is the best turn signal switch out there. I have used two with great results. The part I like best other than the shape is the size. It's a seven wire so you don't have to add lights to the rear of the car. What are running for head light/parks. I changed my parks to double filament for this application but you may not want to if your running the stock bulb and reflector . As for which wire goes where, I had to solder new wires on mine so I could not say by color. Sorry, just one to each corner , one to the flasher and one to the brake light switch, Tim

Thanks guys. Ok one problem I have is that when I made my wiring harness, I joined my 2 lhs wires and 2 rhs wires down at the frame and came up into the dash with only 2 wires instead of 4. So when I find which colour is doing what , can I just use one of the left colours and cap the other? And one of the right colours and cap the other? Dan.

OK, let's start from the beginning. I assume that you are using a separate light at each corner of the car which are not connected to the tail and stop lights. So from your switch you run four wires and each light gets one of those wires. Now you have 3 wires not being used from the switch. Two of those wires now go to the flasher. The one wire will not be used as it would go to the brake switch. If your wires are color coded at the switch and you have no wiring diagram you will have to run a hot wire to the switch to see what wires go to the lights. If there is a brand name on the switch you can do a search on your computer to find the correct wiring diagram. If there's no name on the switch give us the colors of the wires and possibly we can give you an idea what each wire does.

If you don't know the function of the wires on the switch; take a ohm meter or powered test light and check the continuity of the wires in the center, left, and right positions and make a little chart.

Center position will have brake switch connected to rear left and rear right.

Right position will have flasher connected to front right, rear right along with brake switch connected to rear left.

Left position will have flasher connected to front left, rear left, along with brake switch connected to rear right.

The odd wire will be the pilot light.

Picture is what I was describing in the my earlier response about hooking up the pilot with a two post flasher.

Ok guys. Here’s what I worked out for my switch.
Black power from relay
Orange power to pilot light
Yellow to brake light switch
Brown and red lhs
Blue and green rhs
