Default Factory Concern About Rear Wheel Hub Wear

does anyone know why the Factory seemed so concerned about the wear tolerances for the rear wheel hub where the bearing goes? The Service Bulletins and Letters address this in detail and wanted minimum wear tolerated.

We have all learned that these cars were made to far more precise standards than we once thought, but why the emphasis on this part? Did they feel it affected brakes or the differential?
