Re: subaru thermostat
I don't remember the year and model, but it is a Stant 14157. 170 degrees. Works fine in my big inch flathead, but you will need something to keep it in place. They can flip or go up the hose. I put two 3/16 holes in mine to let a little flow through, because otherwise they are up away from the engine heat and will delay opening. Mine would show full hot on the temp gauge and then drop back down to just above the mid mark. No real harm done, but I would rather avoid those anxious moments waiting for the temp to drop down. The effect on engine warm up time is not noticeable.

Re: subaru thermostat
I ordered a pair of 45848 thermostats and I love the quality but they're too small, OD is about 1 11/16". Wrong part in box or am I missing something?

Re: subaru thermostat
The original post was for a thermostat for a 59A engine. The 8BA uses a different thermostat. I don't have the number at home. I'll have to check at the shop tomorrow.
