Hi, I'm elated, I have a true garage find however small. It is a Model A Muffler, a bit rusted but in great shape as far as my limited knowledge of such goes. Does any one have an idea of how much it is worth. It is the whole length from manifold to tail pipe. Pipes are solid and not rusted. I do not know if "A" mufflers deteriorate from the interior. Thanks for any help.

Post some detailed pictures. There are plenty of aftermarket look alikes, only one true original design. That will determine value.

This might help determining what you actually have. The original ford muffler is very distinct.

Great pic thanks. Shows the variation in bend angle in front of the muffler. Does anyone know the vertical drop measurement from the top of the flange down to the bottom of the bend in the front pipe - forward of the muffler?
I have a repop exhaust, quite old, has the tapered muffler etc, but it seems to sit really close to the floorboard. There is barely any gap between the top of the muffler and the brake cross-shaft. If I wanted to put a heat-shield on it I don't think there'd be enough room. I suspect my front pipe is a bit too short?
I may insert a section of front pipe but need to find the standard length.

Model A mufflers bring very little as there is an understanding that, other than Ares (sp), replacements that don't look bad, are poor performers with high back pressure. Needing something to hang on running chassis to control noise, I found two that had their paper labels from probably the seventies for $10 each. Clearly a good deal, but the demand is intermittent. Sure some guy, not knowing all this could part with too much money as the catalogues list bottom of the line mufflers for rather high price. For the sake of the guy that may pay too much, can't see a great value. Fred A
