King Seely fuel sender
Would like to access the inside of my '40 fuel sender. What tool works well to pry off the top cover without buggering things up?

Re: King Seely fuel sender
There are about six "dimples" around the top cover that allows it to "snap" in place. I used the end of a wide blade at 90 deg. under the lip and twisted as I worked around to "pry" at or near each dimple. Clean any dirt or loose rust off the top of the sender, so as not to get dirt inside when the cover comes off. These pics are what you will find inside. If it is not working, the likely cause is dirty contacts. I had to replace the arm that holds the float on my sender.

As a point of information: Turning the star wheel CW moves the gauge needle closer to FULL. Turning the star wheel CCW moves the gauge needle towards Empty. Move it only a 1/32 or less of an inch at a time as its very sensitive. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...k+sending+unit https://www.ebay.com/itm/37360348436...e5821ade390588 Last edited by 19Fordy; 01-20-2023 at 06:32 PM. |
