I would like to suggest that a possible collector driving ,tour to the meet, could some how be developed. Suggest a start from the north ,west ,east and south so those could jump in as the tour passed their area.

Now that's a good idea. Maybe the New England/ Maine Barners can join up and head to Gettysburg together. Too early to start a plan but keep it in mind.

Oldford2,
I drive that corridor all the time, but not sure on a route to drive old cars on. Something that parallels taconic parkway to 84 to 87 to 78 to 15. Assume your in Florida. It is 10 degrees in Hancock right now.

I'm sending my registration now. I hear you get a cool button with a registration? Is that true? What does the button look like? (EDIT: Not True! It is my misunderstanding!)

White's Ferry loaded with old Fords! I'd love to see the Gen. Jubal A. Early haulin' iron like that! (Beats the Wilson Bridge, or the American Legion Bridge. Deathtraps!) Never forget going there during Agnes. The river was about 3 miles wide!

Bad rumor!

We did buy some buttons with the meet logo but they are going to be handed out in Tahoe to promote our meet. We will have logo patches available for purchase at the meet.

Oops! Clueless again.

Another motivation to get to Tahoe, get me one of those buttons...

I found the meet logo at the official site WWW.2014ENM.COM. I guess it's okay to reproduce here. I also think the local sponsoring club has a cool logo.

Jeff, I saw the President of RG36 wearing one of those nice looking buttons at our last meeting. Maybe if he wears it again one of us could divert his attention while the other pops it off his shirt . Then we could flip a coin to see which one of us gets it LOLOL .

Okay folks, this is going to be a great meet at a very nice location. Go to the website listed on post #1 to open and copy the registration form. Get registered early at the lower price and make your accommodations at the host hotel. If you are not presently a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club, you have plenty of time to join and get signed up for this meet. You will have a great time seeing some fine old Ford V-8's and meeting their owners.

Definately plannning on going, driving from Valley Forge. It will be our first EV8 meet, plus despite the fact that we live fairly close by, we've never been to Gettysburg.

Cecil, the drummer boy camp ground is literally the next property south of the hotel. Trip adviser has mixed reviews on it so they need to decide if it is right for them. Other campgrounds are on the west side of Gettysburg.

Hello everyone, We held a club meeting last night, and one if the items I saw is this nice necklace that was custom made. I think the idea is it will be a prize, either in the auction, or as a raffle item, I'm not clear. It's made of silver and has a blue gemstone. Anyone got more info on this? (EDIT to add description from flyer.) It will be a raffle item. "Handcrafted by Personal Touch Jewelers, this exquisite silver & sapphire V8 pendant, hangs casually from a silver chain."

I also saw a gear shift knob that has the entrance to the Ford building at the '39 NY World's Fair on it. Didn't get a photo of the knob that was any good, so I found this one from the Library of Congress.

I was just reading some of the info on the official website... http://www.2014enm.com and saw this tidbit!

"The venue is a 100 acre campus with adequate space for trailer parking, the concourse, swap meet, etc. All meet events will be at the hotel location." (Except the tours, of course.)

"As additional incentive to stay at the host hotel, the presidential suite, as well as four deluxe suites, will be raffled off among those who make reservations prior to the registration deadline." EDIT: These rooms have been awarded as of 2/2/2014.

From the Wyndham website: "Presidential Suite: With over 1,200 sq. ft. of stately, regal accents, the Presidential Suite features a living, dining and bedroom area with a spacious bathroom."

That sounds like a pretty cool side benefit to staying at the host hotel.

The 8ba engine that will be raffled off at the 2014 ENM in Gettysburg is awesome! At our last regional group 36 meeting the guys who put this engine and hauling trailer together gave us a demonstration on how everything fits and gets stored inside the hauling trailer. They also demonstrated how to start the engine. I don't think the starter made one complete revolution before the engine was running. Actually it was purring like a kitten. I wish I had taken some pictures so I could post them here, however, you can go to the registration package pdf attached above to see what this engine looks like. Tickets are $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00. You can get tickets when you register for the meet or you can get them at some of the shows along the east coast where the engine will be on display. We will be at Spring Carlisle set up at Dennis Carpenter's Tent so stop by, check out this nice running 8ba flathead engine, and buy some raffle tickets.

Spent the day at Carlyle yesterday peddling raffle tickets on the rebuilt engine. Had a very successful day. Guys are there again today and tomorrow at the Dennis Carpenter tent and Norm Heathcote and myself will be in Leesport, Pa for the Hawk Mt RG show on Sunday selling tickets again. After that, it will be in Auburn, In. for the AACA national meet in early May.

Hey guys, do you have to be a member of the EFV-8 to put a vehicle in the show and also do you think they would allow model B's?

Yes, you would have to be a member to have your vehicle on the designated show field area and also to participate in any of the other organized activities. But, you would be more than welcome to drive your car to the meet, park in the general hotel parking area, and walk around the show field to see all the cars.
It would not be that expensive to become a member of the club and the V-8 Times magazine you recieve every other month is well worth the price of membership IMO. The V-8 Club always welcomes new members.
We would love to see that '32 model B at the Gettysburg show in June.

You can join for $5.00, I believe, if you don't get the V8 Times or the roster. If money is tight, this is a good way to get a feel for what it is all, about, but I wouldn't want to miss out on the V8 Times. You can show any Ford, whether it is a 4 cyl, 8 cyl , 6 cyl, a tractor or a tank if it is flathead powered.

Redneck, you can see the photos from the Lake Tahoe Meet on the Early Ford V-8 Club website. Scroll towards the bottom and look at "News Headlines" and you will see the link to the photos. www.earlyfordv8.org.

Hi TJ, any truth to the rumor that there may be a cross country tour from the West to Gettysburg ENM in June? Would also be nice to see other tours organized from the North and South to the '14 ENM. These tours would need to be organized by those folks who are planning to drive to the meet from those locations since we (RG36) already have our hands full organizing the meet. Our cross country tour to Tahoe this year was an awesome time. I am still thinking about all the great times I had on that tour. I have over 1000 pictures taken during the tour and during the meet at Tahoe. Never got any of them posted on any websites, except for Facebook.

Since most of the registration forms posted at the beginning of this thread have been revised, I now recommend going directly to the EFV-8 Club website to get all the latest information, registration forms, etc.
Also, if you have preregistered for this meet, the Chairman ond Co-Chairman are now requesting that you get your registration package completed and mailed to Cornerstone as soon as possible. Click on links below....

Hi Everyone, Here's some info from meet co-chairman Norm Heathcote that appeared in the Regional Group 36 club newsletter.

"2014 Eastern National Meet Update by Norm Heathcote.

"With 149 now registered we have 35 signed up for the Monday tour and 28 signed up for the Tuesday tour. About 40 haven't sent in their final registration yet.

"Also on Monday, 37 have signed up for the DC bus trip and 49 for the Fort McHenry bus trip on Tuesday and 23 for the ladies bus trip on Wednesday.

"On Thursday 25 are signed up for the museum driving tour and 62 for the battlefield/visitors center tour. There are 87 signed up for the movie Monday evening, 142 for the welcome party on Tuesday, 95 for the ice cream social on Wednesday and 138 for the awards banquet Thursday."

I'm coordinating with JM to work out the Thursday museum tour from Gettysburg, to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing (emmr.org) where Lynn Paxon will be on hand to explain the exhibits, to the AACA museum in Hershey, and back. I did a dry run a couple of weeks ago, and I'm a little concerned on how we're going to get from York Springs, to Hershey because we have to cross the Susquehanna and the best road for that is Interstate I-83, not an old-Ford friendly stretch of road.

It's looking like a pretty full day, but Posie's Spring shop is less than ten miles out of the way from our tentative route. Hmmm.

OK John,
We are registered and looking forward to meeting you folks in Gettysburg. I guess we won't see you in Florida as planned (banned) but the PA meet will be fun. Less than a 400 mile run for us so with the Mitchell we will cruise the interstates at 65.

Just about 3 months to go before the Early Ford V-8 Club's Eastern National Meet in Gettysburg, PA,
June 23rd - 26th. My previous post above gave links to the to meet information and registration forms. This will be a great meet with plenty of fun activities, and plenty of nice early Fords to see on the show field. We will also have a display class for those who would like to bring their modified Fords. Requirements are that the body must be Ford but we don't care what type of engine they are powered by. Don't delay.....get registered today! I believe early registration ends April 15th, 2014.

I always look forward in seeing you at the National Meets. I have not done much in the garage do to the furnace doesn't work? Maybe today I will try to fix it. I did get a Back Yard Buddy a lift but it still in the Car Trailer. I guess old age is showing up. Did get another old car and will bring it home today. Hope my Fords understand. Yes it a off brand. It snowed last night here. Just a dusting but still snow. I am bringing the 50 this year to the meet. Haven't touch it since last year. Boy am I getting old.

As of 4/30/2014, we had 239 registrations over 400 attendees and I think 185 cars. Late registration fees are now in place. It's gonna be good!

Getting close now, only about a month away, but still time to get registered. Maybe Norman Heathcote can fill us in on the details of how many have registered and how many cars will be there for this meet.

As of today, we have 252 registrations, totaling 494 people and 199 cars. Registration closes on June 15th, so there's plenty of time left to get involved! We've already exceeded all expectations.

Some of the RG 36 members had a meeting at the host hotel in Gettysburg yesterday. Jeff (Very Tangled) and I also met there to make a dry run of our planned route for the Museum tour. I was personally very impressed with the hotel and the areas outside that hotel that will be used for our meet.
Note that on one of these pictures it shows how close the second hotel is to the host hotel. Probably less than 100 paces, so not a big deal if you have reservations in #2 instead of the host hotel.

Jeff, that sounds spooky to me, but I have heard similar stories about folks seeing battles going on there thinking they were reenactments and then finding out later there were definitely no reenactments happening that day

I am also bringing this to the top to let everyone know that today, June 15th, is the last day to register for this meet.

I am really looking forward to meeting up and chatting with all my V-8ing friends! Will hopefully be arriving there on Sunday, 6/22.

Hi Everyone, JM had a better photo of this one off my cell phone, but if any of you are in the York Springs, PA area, right off US 15, the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing is a pretty neat museum.

How often do you see a twin-engine flathead digger?

I don't know about y'all but I feel my blood pressure bumping a little in anticipation.

Although not registered I will try to get my 37 to Gettysburg one day to see some great cars. I remember the AACA meet in Gettysburg a few years back. A little over an hour from home. Zeke

The best day to see all/most of the cars would be Wednesday during the concourse judging. Unfortunatly, for those just wanting to come and see the cars, many folks keep there cars in enclosed trailers and just get them out for the concourse, then immediately drive them back into their trailers.

John or Jeff.....Do you know if the hotels are furnishing a free breakfast for this meet? Often times the larger hotels don't include a breakfast with registration. I was spoiled in Auburn!

Warm Regards,
Pat

Thanks John....I checked their website (Marriot) and there was no mention of a breakfast....no mention of a dining room even!

I don't eat much anymore...but I need to eat often .

Looking forward to seeing you!

The Wyndham Hotel is the host hotel and they list an on site coffee shop and restaurant on their website. As to a free breakfast like some hotels offer, it makes no mention of this.

No free breakfast but there are restaurants in and out of the hotel. Not far to other places.

Hello Everyone, Just back from Gettysburg doing some setup work.

The host hotel does not have a 'breakfast nook' with cereal and juice. There is a gift shop with coffee and I think pastries for sale, along with newspapers. Two cups of coffee was a biscuit over $5 when I was up there two weeks ago. Now that I think about it, the one next door did seem to have a breakfast area when I walked through there, again a couple of weeks ago. Hmmm.

The in-hotel restaurant is called 1863, and looks like white table-cloth service. Here's the breakfast menu from their website.

I'm also not registered but I plan on dropping by on Wednesday. After almost 5 years of rebuilding, I drove my 49 Coupe around the block yesterday for the first time out of the garage. Now waiting on PA to approve my 1949 PA plates and registration. Bob

Hi Jim, You're referring to Appalachian Brewing Company. I've been good and tended to business on my four trips to the site. I'm pretty sure I'll get a look inside in the next several hours. Here's their website:

http://www.abcbrew.com/brewpubs/gettysburg-gateway/ [edit, I had the wrong location originally]

Looks like they open at 11:30.

Look like it will be great show. I wish I could make but it is hard to get off of work during the week to go to show. Maybe one day I will make it.

Hi Everyone! 36ford, your photo #3 shows Pete and Donna's '37 Sedan Delivery a very rare car that they've had forever, here's a shot of the layers or registration stickers on his license plate, from the Maine tour in '12. I just love this car and the license plate does me in!

Some other shots that I got from the tours today. I was a greeter at Al Prueitt's shop. They do Pebble Beach type restoration work. http://www.alprueittandsons.com/

At one point in the morning I had 3 Mercs in the lot.

There was a FORDBARN pen in the registration package. I got this photo and then I seem to have lost the pen! <edit FOUND IT>

The last five shots were at another restoration shop, Vintage Specialties in Gettysburg: http://www.vintagespecialties.net/

Zach, the show field on Wednesday will be on the movie theater parking lot and not behind the Wyndham hotel as I had mistakenly told you earlier in a pm.

Just thought I would post a couple more pictures taken at the Gettysburg meet in June. We had a reunion/dinner at the Appalachian brew pub in Gettysburg of the folks who did the Cross Country Tour to the Lake Tahoe GNM in 2013. It was great to meet up we these folks again and get this group picture. I am not going to try to name everyone but some may recognize a few of these folks anyway.
