Default KiWi-L100 is born........

Well after much pain the New KiWi-L100 is born , this turned out to be a bigger challenge than expected , but thanks to my good friend with 56+ years experience grinding cams we have pulled it off & the "Master" is made & the first baby ground . We are ready to grind your cams , you will get your exact cam back that you send .
All inquiries please PM me or email me @
[email protected]

This has happened with a lot of support from many "Barners" , donor cams lent to me from 3 "Barners" & 1 cam sold to me from a fellow "Barner"
We had to look at all the cams we could get & the pick from the best lobes we could to make the master .
Thanks again !!!
Cheers
Tony

Tony, thank you and congradulations on delivery of those "babies"!! This will fill the void for those who wanted one of these cams after Dave G. shut his business down. It's things like this that keep our hobby going and make it fun.

Tony:
Congrats,
I am interested in the Mechanical part of Cam Grinding.
As long as it does not give away any trade secrets could you post a picture of how the setup works Transferring from the master to the cam being ground.
Is it set up side by each like a wood lathe or one in front of each other like when you get a replacement key made?

I'm really interested in how the master is created from an existing cam. Do you make the master from the existing lobe, or do you you do all the math and create a master from scratch?

And nice job, I already have an L100 but I am really glad to know I can now get a new one when I need it!

Guys as to how the Master is made I can not tell as my cam grinder will only make them on a Saturday or when he is alone . The KiWi-L100 master was made on Labor day . I know that it was copied from the best lobes we could measure off 3 different NEW ground cams .
Cheers

Sorry to be such a numb skull here, but I don't know what an L100 cam is. I googled it and it sounds like it is a reground stock cam, but smaller due to the material that was removed thus necessitating longer valve stems. Am I anywhere near correct in my understanding on this?
Thanks

I have just shipped the first KiWi-L100 cam to the Legendary "Rabbit" @ North Georgia Fabrication. Rabbit is a F1 , Indy car , Nascar "Legend " & now he has Cam #001 of the "Famous" KiWi-L100..................................
This is so exciting ...........
I guess its almost time to introduce it over on the HAMB.
Cheers

What a bunch of BS.
Grinding cams is NOT a black art as some would have you believe.
There is information all over the internet on how masters are made and cams are ground.
If anyone wants to stop by my shop, I will show them the whole process.
It is Not a mystery and they are NOT made of unobtanium.

The majority of street rodders today select a cam for the "drive-in" idle rather than performance.

As a side note, modern OEM cams are not ground with masters.

If it took 3 cams to find 2 good lobes, that doesn't say much for the people that ground them does it?

Smile Re: KiWi-L100 is born........

Pete , my statement is the honest truth ... I am not implying that it is "Black Magic" .. all I am stating is that "I" dont know how the master was made !!! I did not imply anything about "Unobtainium " as you put it ! All I simply stated was that I dont know & that my great friend & cam grinder will only grind masters on Saturdays . (or when he is alone ) That is his choice !
I simply did not want to tell folks how the Master was made when I "honestly" dont know or see it happen , so sorry if I misled or confused anyone at all.
I had also stated previously that there was an issue with the cams that we were wanting to copy (I,m pretty sure you have read all my posts). These cams were not ground by my cam grinder!!
I am sorry if I have offended you or ticked you off in any way at all!! As you have been a tremendous asset to our old car hobby!!! & a wealth of information to us all including myself !!
Cheers
Tony

Could it be POSSIBLE that Tony is (perhaps) a bit more meticulous or discriminating than "others"? DD
