Default MDS Ready to Run

Any opinions on the MDS Ready To Run distributor for a 1958 332V8 FE?

If you plan to go racing, they seem to be the hot ticket. For street use, send your old dizzy to GMC Bubba on the HAMB. He will recondition it, and for a few extra fun tickets he will install a unit to replace the points so the dizzy will be trouble free for years.

I think you may mean MSD. I would not waste my money on a Chinese distributor. The machine work on these varies, very poor quality. As Old Don says send it out to Bubba and you won't be sorry. A friend just sent his out to Bubba for a 303 Olds and he is very pleased. I did the same thing with my 348 distributor but a different source and am only using my dissy as a trigger but same results. Much better setup. Good Luck what ever you decide.

MSD Chinese? Poor quality? Since when You've got MSD confused with some other company, possibly from the Hoffman group.

Umm, ready to run means there is no additional ignition control box or module required.

Sorry Bob, but MSD had sold out and is doing a fair amount of outsourcing: You will find plenty of info to back it up on a lot of forums:https://www.google.com/#q=msd+ignition+made+in+china I moderate the 1952-59 Ford Social Group and almost daily folks complain about outsourced parts, lately rubber parts come up a lot almost any motor mount from any source is China or India made many have failed and separated in less than a year.On the other side of the coin these failures are causing several companies to insist on higher quality from them, years ago Made in Japan was bad not any more as the Chinese are becoming more affluent that seems to be changing as well.So many American companies bit the dust from over regulation by our own government.
