Do you belong to the EFV8 club? If so, look in your directory and call one of the Pa members who has a 36 and get some direct eyeball looks. Dave Collette 724-368-8226 would be a good start.

Either Dave Collette or Jon Anderson could tell you what's wrong on that car. They are both in the EFV8C/A and very knowledgeable about '35/'36 Fords. Also, both of these guys live in your neck of the woods.

Cool Re: 36 rear wheels

If you measured the wheel base and it is 112", then something is amiss. Are the front wheels centered in the wheel wells? Are the tires 600-16's? Tell us a little bit about the car, like have you had the body off of the frame and did the frame holes line up when you put it back on? Are they the original rear fenders? Did you do the bodywork on the car, especially the rear half and the rear fenders? To me the rear fender lip looks a little funny, but it could just be an illusion. Not trying to offend, just looking for clues.

At some point in this cars life someone reworked the back fenders. rear lip was moved forward one inch. I bought new fenders and they look great. A good indication the frame and rear end are correct is if the bump stops are directly above the rear end.

My 36 ford 5W Coupe has a similar look but is lower than is shown on the Cabriolet.

If you lived in Australia & owned a Holden bodied 1936 Chevrolet Roadster, the rear wheels were never centred correctly in the cut-outs, as is evident from this picture, taken when the car was near new. But Ford of USA didn't make this same mistake with their cars.

Thanks for getting back to me. Mine is not so bad, the wheelbase is 112 1/2". I have a 37 - 48 rear axle so maybe that's my problem.

Have you tried installing running boards . That can move rear fender quite a bit.

I believe that the '37-48 torque tube is to long for your '36..
I have a '42-48 Columbia under my '36, I used the '36 torque tube/drive-line and banjo w/'36 ring gear/pinion. I also used '37-38 wish bones. They are slightly longer than the '36 wish bones, they bolt to the rear backing plates just like the '48's.
The only allowance that has to be made for the longer '37 wish bones is to add a 3/4" nut as a spacer, over a longer bolt, to attach the wish bones to the front '36 torque tube mount.
Of course there are people that will say that the wish bones have to be cut and/or the torque mount moved.. I subscribe to the KISS way of thinking.

I had the running boards on and it was the same. Regarding the axle. I'm not 100% sure what the combination is but its not 36.

Thanks for all replies.

Would a dimension from a 36 rear help? I have access to one laying loose. No clam on it but I could put one.

Appears the rear is much too high, perhaps bringing the rear down would remedy the alignment.
