Default Let's see some skirts !

Ok, now that I have your attention I have been looking for some teardrop style skirts for my 36 . I know the originals follow the wheel well and I do not want that.I have been told these would be 39/40 skirts . It seems like the more I look, the more styles I find . I assume there are many different styles out there so lets see them . I have purchased 3 sets and they are all different. Some are more of a bubble, some are flatter, some have a reveal on the bottom. Post pics of 36 to 40 Fords with teardrop style skirts or just post the skirt by itself so we can see all the different styles . Please post the brand of skirt if you know it or identify one already posted if you know the brand .

I bought these first but I am now selling them . The outside of the skirt is exactly the same but the inside has 2 different mounting styles. I have no idea of the make .

I bought these recently and they are supposed to be original 40 Skirts . They look very nice and I am hoping the color is a close match to my 36 .

I bought these because they have the reveal on the bottom . They are flatter against the fender . Unknown brand .

And these were for sale . I would love to buy them but I could go broke buying skirts . I really like the look of them and they are supposed to be Foxcraft skirts. The two arms to pull them into the fender seams like a good idea .

That is all I have . Anyone else ??

I love skirts, both kinds actually but that's another story. As far as your skirts are concerned, the pair with the reveal on the bottom are Foxcraft, I have a set of them on our '39 CS however, I was lucky enough to get a pair of original Ford bubble (tear drop) skirts from Don Garlits and I'll be mounting them on the '39 CS after I get them painted. I don't believe any "fat fender" is fully dressed unless it is wearing skirts! Here is a photo of the '39 CS with the Foxcraft skirts on.

Try Jeffs Customs in Arizona.
$250/pair for steel teardrop/bubble type skirts.
Beautifully made.
He advertises in Hemmings.
I have 2 sets for my cars.
Yet to fit them on.

I'll have to take some photos of the skirts I got from Don Garlits, they have a few small dents that have to be fixed before they can be painted. If I get a chance I'll take a photo tomorrow and post them. I also have OEM Ford skirts on our '47 Convertible, '39 LZ, '49 Cosmo Convertible and '53 Sunliner, as well as a set of Foxcraft skirts for the '53... Like I said, I love skirts

So at the risk of getting some flak, I have often wondered if my old panel would look good in skirts or should I leave that to the imagination?

thanks guys.

I think skirts would look sharp on the Panel. I've got a '53 F-100 1/2 ton Panel that I'm toying with the idea of making a set of skirts for. I say go for it!

This is mine.

I don't know the history on mine as they came with the car, unfitted. I believe they are repro '40. If they are they fit really well.

That car is outstanding! I love the skirts and the hubcaps (are they single bar spinners or '38 LZ's? Hard to tell in the photo).

Sure would like to find a pair of Garwood's for my 34 coupe! They must be about the rarest of the non-approved accessories for the 34 Fords.

Thanks. I've been looking for a pair of those single bar flippers for the wide five
rims... Hopefully someone reading this may have a pair they are willing to part with... Again, that is a beautiful Coupe.

Yes, that is my E-Type, it's a '68 that my dad bought new, it has only 52,000 miles on it but, unfortunately, he let it sit a long time with gas in the tank... so, I've got the tank out and I have to do the brakes, etc. to get the car back on the road... Another project...

Like Vic says I like skirts too. They really look great on women and our old cars, especially coupes. Wonder why Bob Drake hasn't reproduced some good skirts? They look a lot simpler to make than some of the other parts he has replicated.

Does anyone make new skirts for our cars?

Vic something just jogged my memory. Sometime about 20 years ago I received a call from your lady friend or maybe she approached me at the Ford~Edison show. She wanted to buy you a set of shirts for one of your cars for Christmas or your birthday. Do you still have them and what car re they on.? I rarely sell parts but I'm not a fan of skirts and she was convincing. G.M.

Bud, I got mine from Agape Auto Parts and was very pleased with them. Here's their website: http://www.agapeautoparts.com/about/about.htm
Very nice folks to deal with too. Steve

George, you are absolutely correct, my wife did ask about the skirts, (the ones you gave me for our '47 Convertible) and yes, they are still on the car. Vic

I have two original pairs of Garwood 33-34 skirts in excellent shape. The mounting levers all work as well. they are great because they come on and off easily, totally change the look of the car.

Hi Vic, That is a nice thing for you to say, thanks.

In this next shot, from this years PA Fall Tour, I had the skirts and greyhound off. I've taken hell for both moves and they're going back on, but I like the looks of the car both ways, with and without the skirts, and greyhound. The greyhound always gets attention from the public, but I also like the cleaner look of the front of the '36 without it.

Jeff, here's a solution to your dilemma... Put one skirt on and snap half of the tail off of the Greyhound (like Lawson's)... LOL. All kidding aside, your (and your dad's) '36 is a beauty either way. I'm looking forward to my next opportunity to go for a ride in it with you. Vic
