Default Attractive Models Help Sell Tires in a Set of Photos Taken in 1933

The Pacific Railway & Steamship Clearing Agency Tire Sale: The Great Depression had a devastating effect on the economy across the land, and was at its darkest point when this set of photos was taken during 1933. View an interesting set of four photos with three attractive models taken to help liquidate unclaimed tires on The Old Motor.

Guy Bryan (likely the man in the pix) seems well fed and he has a mighty fine set of wheels there.

Don't think the Great Depression held him back much.

Or Joe Kennedy who found riches in the escape of people via motion pictures or scotch.

Dad remembered Grandpa used to have a man come to the house with a baby carriage - filled with booze for sale. "Putting the baby to bed" assumed a new and unique after dinner meaning in their household.

But Grandpa was a noteworthy lawyer in Southeastern Massachusetts.

Interesting pix. Do you suppose they had machines that wound the paper around the tires or was it done "manually."

Did you notice that the model, sitting, on the fender, had to sit on a towel.

I love woman being around my "A" but, I think I would be pretty upset if one of them stood on my fender with heals.

Those gals are a little over 100 years old now, the Lincoln is less than 85!

Hi T,

Would be interesting to see the expression on the guy's face in the building .... one can see him through the car's passenger side door window.

No doubt he was not at all interested in the Lincoln or the stacked tires.

The guy with the pocket watch does not appear to be pointing at the wrapped tires either.

A couple of posts refer to this car as a Lincoln. I admit that the hubcap logo bears a good resemblance to a Lincoln hubcap; and the radiator cap does bear a resemblance to the famous Lincoln 'Greyhound'. But both are a bit under-defined for a 'for certain' declaration. The hood just doesn't 'look right' to me - to be a Lincoln.

Can some of you '28 - 29 Lincoln aficionados help give some stronger assurances (outside of the hubcap and greyhound) - specific points that are exclusively Lincoln - that definitely define this car as a Lincoln ? Can you tell the year ?

And - Dusty, I really do admire your computer techno skills ! You are an artist with your green paint brush.

DougVieyra,

Did you look at all the photos in the group? The last pic shows the front of the car sticking out of the warehouse drive in door. It sure looks like a
1930-31 Lincoln to me. Possibly a Judkins body with that particular style of windshield some had. One of the give aways of it being maybe a '31 Lincoln is the new front bumper style. I can't remember if Lincoln changed
the bumpers in '30 or '31. It always amazes me how the Lincolns of the Model-A era look so like A's on steroids.

Gold Digger,
You don't remember those days?
That's the way they looked in the days before silicone implants. I much prefer the old look and feel.
There were very few big breasted bed thrashers in those days. If you are ever involved with a lady with implants you will discover that they are ice cold because of the insulation characteristics of silicone. not much fun. At 75 I am using my long term memory.
