Keep in mind that all engines placed into model A's had a star, an A or AA, the number, then another star.

Your second engine number I would think has been restamped.

Once engine has had its number modified, even if it were to match frame number, you never will known for sure what you have.

It was common for engine rebuilders to grind down old number and replace for many reasons.
