1940 Ford Body Mount Question
Bob Drake's 40 Ford catalog shows a round rubber pad on the right side of the rear cross member between the cross member and the bottom of the floor pan, but no rubber pad on the left side. My coupe is the same and there is a space of about 1/4 inch between the floor pan and the rubber pad. Nothing rests on the pad. Anyone know why this is so? Click on pic to enlarge.

Re: 1940 Ford Body Mount Question
That round pad is correct and only on the right side. Why it's there? Haven't a clue.

Re: 1940 Ford Body Mount Question
I recently used the Drake kit to mount my 40 coupe and as 19Fordy says it doesn't appear to do anything. I was curious as to why there was one on the right and not on the left, but since even if there was one for the left it wouldn't do anything either. I naively assumed that it may be useful for some body style other than the coupe and didn't worry about i.

Re: 1940 Ford Body Mount Question
I always assumed it was something to absorb vibration or for a different body, like a Woodie or sedan-delivery. HRP
