Correct spark plugs for 1952 F-1?
Im going down the rabbit hole of spark plugs...Which is considered the most factory correct spark plug for a 1952 F-1 truck?
1. A H-9 or H-10? Were they using H-10's in light trucks or only h-9? 2. Five rib or a two rib? Both rib kinds could be sold at dealers or installed at the factory in 52 right? As a side note; what were some common after-market- period correct types available around 1952-55? Are any modern plugs sold today that look close or look like a common period correct aftermarket spark plug. Would they have been a black base spark plug? Interested in serious replies Thanks. |

While I have never sought them out on the net, I have come across some serious spark plug collectors in my years with antique tractors, trucks and farm machinery. Sometimes they buy large lots of NOS plugs in the box and resell. Try that.

Thanks mr sisson! I have a source for them I’m just wanting to learn more about the difference between them. It’s an obscure detail that is for sure.

I have heard from a good source that the five rib champions are correct for the f1’s. I have a set of both 2 rib and 5 rib. I never understood why that really mattered, as the spark plug wire boot covers most of the plug.

Thanks JB! These are partly for display purposes partly for actual use. I’d probably be happy with just a black base spark plug. Do you know of any new plugs for our engines that have a black base out of the box?
Also what plugs were common in the early-mid fifties that would have been installed at an independent garage? |
