52 F1 ignition questions
My condenser went bad. I had a Napa rr175 in glove box. I installed it and truck started and ran fine at idle.
The questions: Is the Napa rr175 correct? If not what is the right one? While I was in the distro the points needed to be tweaked. I gapped them at .015. I noticed driving at 50, if I step on the gas the truck now begins to sputter. Is that caused points too tight or is the condenser the culprit?

Re: 52 F1 ignition questions
Back when my buddies and I were 16 year old know it all mechanics we just grabbed a condenser from the scrap parts box and it physically fit, installed it. I didn't know there were actually correct ones. I hate confusing all that "this will fit" fixi'ns with real knowledge. Now I am a 74 year old still learning hobbyist. Chap

I think that condenser is for Chevy V8.

Re: 52 F1 ignition questions
The actual capacitance of an automotive condenser is very forgiving. When I was developing my "Trash Cans", I tried one that was .040 micro-farads (normal value .20 to .40 micro-farads) and the car ran fine. I don't know about point life, though.

Re: 52 F1 ignition questions
Thanks guys. I can recall Bubba recommending the IR175 over the IH200 for my 39. Stating that points would last longer.
Hence my request for best condenser for a stock 52 F1.
