Yeah, you hook up to it with a laptop and load the advance curves into tables.

I haven't looked yet but I wonder if it can sense a load and provide the proper compensation. Most of the real modern stuff can do that due to the interaction with all the sensors for the ECM. It would likely need a MAP or TP sensor or something of that nature.

Trying to get more info on the Aldon Amethyst mappable ignition system. Can anyone add to this post? This sounds like a great set-up to have with my blower motor to retard timing under boost as well as getting the best curve. Any additional input would be great!
Thanks, Joe

Both Mallory & Stromberg have electronic systems. I'm looking at them for my 37. That maybe something for you to look into.

Amethyst at first glance looks good because it improves timing control through the elimination of the vacuum advance function of the Loadomatic distributor, substituting electronic advance curve mapping generated from your actual engine's operating vacuum/load, which is a massive benefit in my estimation.
I'll have to do more reading on Aldon.....

I purchased a CB Performance Black Box #2013 to go with a Mallory Unilte #3727501.
This is for a 255CI blower motor being built as we speak.
