Default 48 quarter windows

Would very much appreciate someone telling me what the springs that keep the window open look like and how stiff are they as mine are missing. I suspect they resemble brake shoe springs but not as stiff.

Yes you are correct. I replaced one in my avatar rear window. I am assuming 48 is similar to 49-50. It is a coil spring about the dia of a pencil and about 11/2" long or so. Mine was quite hard to find but Shoebox Central had one.

I think you should do some research before buying springs. If your car is a '48 and the spring dimensions you have been given are for a '49-51 they may be quite different.

I wasnt recommending he buy 49-51 springs. His question was what do they look like and I told him what mine look like.

Googled Shoebox and could not find quarter window springs. Bought a 2" spring from Home Depot and connected it to the comma with a rod and it seems to work.

Good job!! Main thing here is it is working. A lot of times if you know what something looks like a piece can be fabricated close enough to work.
